Morganite got its name after a rich and well-known banker in New york, J P Morgan. Morganite was discovered on Madagascar 1911 of G.F. Kunz and he named the stone to “Morganite”. After J P Morgan that was one of the biggest financiers to this and also many other expeditions to find gemstones all around the world. Morganit is an exceptional member of Beryl family and is called also pink Beryl or pink emerald. A more well-known member in beryl the family is emerald.
Many of the most exceptional Morganites comes from Madagascar and exceptional samples can reach very high prices on the gemstone market.
