The perhaps most rare and most rated sapphire is Padparadscha which on Singalesiska means “Lotus flower”. An authentic Padparadscha will have a combination of both orange and pink color. These colors will go in each other so the is difficult to see which as dominates. Dealers disagree on the exact ideal color on a Padparadscha. Color and origins are however important factors in order to assess what as can be denoted as a” authentic Padparadscha ". It is considered that stones that are descended from from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and has a light to between strong nuance the similar color on salmon is a “authentic Padparadscha”. Nowdays there is also sold sapphires with other origin as Padparadsch and that is also the case with this particular sapphire.
